This policy explains what information this website handles when you visit, and what happens to it. In short: we count visits with privacy-first, cookieless, aggregate statistics; we do not use cookies; we do not collect personal data from visitors; and we do not track you across other sites.

01What we collect

We collect as little as we can. When you read pages on this site, we do not ask for your name, email address or any account details, and there are no sign-up forms, comment boxes or newsletters.

Like every website, the servers that deliver these pages briefly process technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, so that the page can be sent to your device and so that abusive traffic can be blocked. We do not use that information to identify you or build a profile of you.

The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us by email.

02Visit statistics

We count visits using privacy-first, cookieless, aggregate statistics. They tell us things like:

  • how many page views each page receives;
  • referrers, meaning which sites or searches led readers to a page;
  • how quickly pages load, so we can keep the site fast.

These statistics are aggregate: they describe the site's traffic as a whole, not individual visitors. They do not use cookies, do not collect personal data, and do not follow you across other websites. We cannot use them to tell who you are or what else you do online.

We use these numbers to decide which pages need updating, which questions readers are asking, and whether the site performs well on slower connections.

03Email

If you email the editors at editor@copyrightinformation.org, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use that only to read and answer your message and, for correction reports, to keep a record of what we changed and why.

We do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not sell, rent or share your email with anyone, except where the law requires it. We keep correspondence only as long as we need it for those purposes.

Please do not email us copies of legal notices or other documents containing personal information; we cannot review them.

04Your choices

  • Reading the site: you do not need to do anything. There are no cookies to accept or refuse.
  • Your emails: you can ask us to delete correspondence you sent, and we will do so unless we need to keep a record of a correction.
  • Questions: email the editors with any question about this policy.

This site is written for a general audience and does not knowingly collect information from children. If we change this policy, we will update this page and its review date.
